Suppose you are planning for a UK NURSING REGISTRATIONS FOR OVERSEAS NURSES. In that case, you have to get registered with the NURSING AND MIDWIFERY COUNCIL (NMC). It is illegal to practice nursing in UK without NMC registration. NMC is the legal organization that registers overseas nurses. This organization will conduct two tests. The first one is the CBT (Computer-based test) conducted in your country. The second one is the OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination), which will be conducted in UK.
What Is The Eligibility Criteria?
The minimal eligibility for the post of nurse or midwife in UK are :
QUALIFICATION: GNM/ B.Sc./Post B.Sc. /M.Sc . in Nursing .
WORK EXPERIENCE: Minimum 1 year as a Registered Nurse in the last five years.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS :
IELTS: Overall Grade: 7 ( with at least a 7 in speaking, listening and writing and at least a 6.5 in reading)
OET: Overall: B ( C+ for reading and B for the other three modules )
Applying for NMC Registration as a NURSE:
Once you have cleared the eligibility criteria, you can apply for registration with the NMC. These are the required steps for registration :
- Self – Eligibility: You will need to confirm that you are eligible for registration by giving self – assessment.
- Computer-Based Test: There will be 3 attempts and a minimum of ten days in between each sitting. If you do not clear the CBT test within 6 months, then you will have to give self-eligibility again.
- OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination): If you clear CBT, then OSCE will be conducted in the UK. There will be 3 attempts and a minimum of ten days in between each sitting. If you do not clear the OSCE test within 6 months, you will have to apply for new registration.
- ID check and Documents verification: The original documents and ID check will take place at the OSCE location.
